"GOLD RUSH" Thru the years, the Gold in Georgia had been occassionally mined from time to time. Up until now!!! Gold has become a New and Interesting focal point in the mining community recently. It's being found in areas all over Northern Georgia, also from Alabama all the way into Tennessee and the Carolinas. The Finest Gold Found on the North American Continent. In our travels, we've had the opportunity to meet alot of interesting folks. Especially when we have the opportunity to give instructional classes at the CohuttaSprings ElderHostel. Several times a year we're invited to give a 3 day instruction on the History of Gold in Georgia. The local geology and common rock found here and what makes it the way it is.Prospecting from the 1800's up to todays methods of Gold and Precious Gem recovery. It involves classroom instruction and then off into the field to try their hand at finding Gold. Some do actually get right into the water and give it their best. And of course there are others who prefer to pan at the panning trough thats provided. Most importantly, "OUR STUDENTS LEARN ALL ABOUT A FIELD OF INTEREST THAT THEY NEVER EVEN CONSIDERED A REALITY".
